Okay so I almost bought a different phone after a few weeks of having this thing but I discovered a round-about way of getting your POP3 on the impression (or any phone with Media Net access).  Its as simple as activating a media net account and adding the pop3 account to your media net email.  It works great for me.

Here is the link to register for media net:
https://www.wireless.att.com/sson/registration

After registering you will see an option at the bottom for POP3 accounts.  Add your account.

Then you launch media net on your phone and scroll down to "categories" and select:

"Email & Friends"
then..
"Media Net mail"

I found that the first time I logged in from the phone I had to first select "Add Email Account" and revalue the password for the account.

I am not sure if someone else has figured this out but I wanted to post it.  Its actually really cool.  I saved it as a favorite in the browser and I don't have to click all the options anymore either.

Enjoy Grin

I don't use Yahoo, AOL, MSN or any of the default mail services.  I use my ISP email.  I've been using the OperaMini browser and can go to the WebMail site to check my mail.  I also just heard about MovaMail and I'm trying that too.

Sorry folks.  After doing a lot of searching and trying apps I find this to be useless.  There are apps that do it better than this method, including movamail (but you gotta pay).

I've been through all the different pop/imap apps.  Trust me... the best & easiest way to go is to aggregate all of your e-mails into Gmail then use the Gmail app on your phone.  Simple and very efficient.

I like MovaMail and I haven't had to pay for that.  Where do we get the GMail app? Or is it just as easy to go to the Gmail website in OperaMini?

It seems you have to keep the APP running, and cant even switch to something else using the multitask button.  Otherwise you dont get any updates to you mail.

I dont see a way at the moment to do real push email were you get you emails as soon as the hit you email account.

Does anyone know if there's a way to SSH into a server using the Impression?

Here is what I did...set up a hotmail account through MobileEmail.  Then go to your regular email site and have all of your mail immediately forwarded to hotmail.  You'll get a message when you have new mail.  I used this with Roadrunner, so it should work with most providers.

You get a message that you have new mail, but you still have to log onto your mail site to read it right?

No.  When you click on the message from Mobile Email, it automatically takes you to your hotmail account where you can get all of your pop3 mail.  Eventually, yes, you would have to log in to your pop3 and delete everything you've already seen through hotmail.  It's the best way I've found, plus it alerts you to new mail, as soon as it enters your pop3 box.
