First of all, wanted to thank you all for this site... it's incredible! Lots of good info and mods.

I was wondering if it is possible to hide a file on the impression (such as a file, video, jpg, or pdf) of sort.

I've looked at some 3rd party file managers but none of them have worked, so I was wondering if any of you folks have stumbled upon anything!

Thanks.

Well I can tell you a slick way to hide files. If you install BlueFTP from this thread.  Which is a file manager.

http://www.samsung-impression.org/index.php?topic=1959.0

You can make a folder in the filesystem of blueftp. You can hide special pics and documents in there. No other application or phone tool can find them in there. Perfectly hidden. You can even password blueftp so it wont run without the password.

BlueFTP has a text viewer, picture viewer, and even a media player built into its app. This saves the files on the phones filesystem. So you are limited to the space on the phone. Works great.

The only way to look in that folder would be to use TKFE or the app itself. I think this is some very good info and deserving a sticky since its never been mentioned.

I used the "Lock" feature on the My Stuff (folder?) and this gets me the exact same thing without having to install anything. All your videos/pics/porn/not porn will not be accessible unless you have the password.

To setup:
 Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Security

Use the drop down menu for 'Lock Applications' and select My Stuff and then set a password. All set! Now if anyone tries to see any of that content they will need your pw!

P.S. Another useful lock would be for messaging... that way no one can browse through your old txt's or mms's.

Love it Hate it? Let me know!

Never tried to lock this way. Many say it doesnt really lock you out. If you go to the camera, can you still scroll through the pics? If you go to the music player can you still browse your music?

If you lock "my stuff" and try to access your pics from the camera or the music from the music player it won't let you access untill you enter the password.  I just wish it would let you lock specific files not the whole "my stuff" section.  oh well...

I'm with you on that one too... i wish i could get more specific with individual folders but it works good enough for me. I've tried all ways to access the content and thankfully you can't access any of it without the password you setup whether its via the camera or any other app that tries to access those files. Even if you plug into usb to try and access the files from your pc you are first prompted for the pw before the connection is made.

On a side note the system will still be able to access those files without the pw.

For example you take a pic with the camera. It will store the pic normally but if you want to look at the album you are prompted for the pw.

Accessing files is still possible. You can plug the phone up to TKFE and browse the files that way, or just take out the memory card if theres already one in there.
