I did see that response and I appreciate the info. I was just replying to a question as to why I flashed the phone.
Replacing the digitizer is a little more involved than I care to get.
I'm due for an upgrade as it turns out anyway so thanks to all for helping me out with this problem.

Hi I have all the files and program to flash my samsumg as instrucrted but the download button wont get highlighted and I can download anything to my phone what could it be?
my phone is the A877 Samsung

Yes, I figured it out and got all the files loaded, it's kind of touchy, anyway my issue now is that after I flashed it and got it to work after a full charge my phone suddenly went back to the flash mode .

I have a problem where the phone goes through the flash stage and everything is at 100% and nothing happens. How long should I have to wait.
The first time I flashed it, it worked. However when I powered down it was stuck on the 'goodbye' screen. I then took the battery out and the phone was on the boot loader screen.

i am currently using an unlocked impression if i have to flash it will it remain unlocked or will i have to unlock it again?

Flashing it will not affect the unlocked sim status.

If you would have read any of this thread you wouldn't have asked that question.  Flashing for those who have corrupted or bricked their phone and need to reinstall the OS.
