So everyone wants widgets. Well here is a way to get them. I posted a few down below that worked on this phone. There are others i will list after I try them out. I dont want to risk anyone elses phone. So here is how to get them.

There are 2 ways to get widgets. We need someone to host them on their site with the appropriate code. Or you can register at the samsung innovator site.

http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/wgt/cp.do?platformId=12

This link is for the widget test page. After you register you can upload widgets here to the test page and then download them to your phone using a pin widget (or the pin widget link below) that you will have to download from the bottom of this post first.

You can use the link below to install the pin widget or just use it in place of the pin widget. Your choice.
http://widget.samsungmobile.com/pin.jsp

You upload a widget to the test page by clicking on register. You will have to enter a name and a description and hit save. To download select the pin download method. This gives you the pincode to enter on your phone in the pin widget or the pin widget link.

Then using the pin widget enter the pincode and you will then download and install the widget.

I had issues getting the pin code to connect the first time. Change your browsers network profile and then reboot your phone. Then change it back to medianet and it was able to connect.

If that doesnt work for you then try this. Edit the widgetstatus.ini file with TKFE. It is located in the registry folder of your phone. Upload it to your pc and open it with wordpad or notepad. Change NetworkAccess from a '0' to a '1' and save it. Then download it back to your phone and reboot your phone.This also has to be done so the translate and accuweather widget connects to the internet.

One more thing. There now is a way to delete widgets. Peanutbutter has found that by going to  menu/settings/reset settings and select 'display and light' and hit reset. All installed widgets will be gone and you can start over. Only thing you will have to do is set your wall paper, font type, greeting message, transition time, brightness, and backlight time. All can be found menu/settings/display and light.

The translate widget will translate from one language to another and there are many languages to choose from. It is a now a newer version that Bantam has edited it so it shows the translation in a white box. Thanks Bantam. Just install over top of previous version if you installed it already.

Widget test page guide.

Widgets are not officially supported on our phone. You add them at your own risk. I nor the forum or anyone associated to the forum will be held responsible for the mods or the downloads you use on your phone.

I have now included my own browser shortcut widgets. Thanks to Bantam for the coding help and sickwitit for some of the graphics.

It seems the maximum amount of widgets on your screen is 7. Not all widgets are considered running. My browser widgets and accuwether are running widgets.

Pac 1 includes: Craigslist, Flickr mobile, Facebook Mobile, Facebook, Twitter Mobile, Moodio.fm, ORB, Imserba jumpcode downloader, MySpace Mobile, Youtube Mobile, My Ebay, and Rumkin jumpcode downloader.

Pac 2 includes: The onion.com, Comcast email shortcut, Samsung-Eternity.com, Samsung-Impression.org, and DontEvenReply.com

This is amazing. It's great to see such a strong community working together on things like this.

I think I'm going to hold off on this, for the time being. I'm curious to see what happens.

Yeah the result is now in a white box instead of just black letters. Just install the new one. It will update the older version.

Because I recognize a good community when I see it, I decided to take plunge and installed my first widget.

I chose the Accuweather widget because it makes a great home page item.

The installation went great. Just changed the .ini file of the widget to make the network profiles work with the test widget.

It's pretty cool looking. You can chose the update interval and the temperature measure unit.  You can view current conditions and 6-day iconized forecast. Neat.

However is way too big. Breaks the flow of any background you use. But the party has just started. We can only hope to see more and better widgets...

Thing that worries me is space. Since they can't be erased once installed, they tax the internal phone memory space. At " only" 200MB it can  get filled pretty soon.

Keep you posted guys. And long live this forum.

With 200MB of memory that will be 400-500 games. I think that is more than enough.

Any place to find even more widgets? By screen caps of other Samsung phones, I know there are:

* Facebook
* MySpace
* Yahoo Finance widgets.

I found a yahoo finance widget. You are welcome to try it. I know the facebook and myspace widgets are just browser shortcuts on the solstice. Possibly these can be made. I will look into it.

Would there be any way to download widgets without using a data plan?

Posting from my Impression, BTW.
