If you want to make your phone calls louder this is an easy way to do it. One procedure is for the receiver and the other is for the speakerphone. This way really works and works well.

For speakerphone
enter *#197328640# like you were making a call.
tap 8 - audio
tap 3 - Spk Config
tap 3 - Call config
tap 3 - Spk Codec Gain
tap 4 - cod_rx
Then enter your selection for the gain by tapping on a number. 4  would be a decent choice.

Then hit the end call key. Reboot your phone and try it out.

If its too loud then try 2 or 3. Not loud enough try 5 or 6 but your  speaker may start to distort.

For earpiece in a call
enter *#197328640# like you were making a call.
tap 8 - audio
tap 1 - RCV Config
tap 3 - Call config
tap 3 - RCV Codec Gain
tap 4 - cod_rx
Then enter your selection for the gain by tapping on the number. 4  would be a decent choice.

Then hit the end call key. Reboot your phone and try it out.

If its too loud then try 2 or 3. Not loud enough try 5 or 6 but your receiver speaker may start to distort

F.Y.I. the default value for cod_rx for each is 0db.

This way seems to increase the volume as a whole instead of each volume level. Its like having 2 volume controls for your tv. One on the cable box and one on the tv.

I prefer this method as I got much louder results. And it was much easier.

'preciate it! i'm wondering if i should set the mp3 volumes back to stock. could be a way to get out of the increasing ringtone.( although im getting used to it).

the reason i'd like to lose the increasing ring is i got a clip from "pulp fiction" where "jules" shoots the guy on the couch and says "oh, im sorry, did i break your concentration?" of course the gunshot comes first!

another question......... is "EAR" for the speaker to your ear? or is it "RCV"?

ear is for headphones only. BT is for bluetooth only. RCV is for when you have the phone held to your ear. SPK is anything you do with the phone away from your face.

I didnt set mine back. I still had mine raised a level.

Edit your clip with a program like audicity. You can add a 2-3 second blank in front of your ringtone. You would never hear the increasing then.

This is a fantastic forum. I congratulate the goatdude for advice and knowhow. I was

about to give up on my Impression's volume problem before I tried this simple fix-

perfect! I was thoroughly scared to mess with my phone's internals, but now I look

forward to really making this phone 'Mine'. Now, if I could figure out how to get the

games into landscape mode it would really be something. I guess I need to seriously

read about 'goatbreaking'..  Thanks again.  Cheesy   a newbie convert from SE 580i.

Games wont go landscape properly if they were not programmed to do so. You cant reverse the resolution on games like you can on apps. They are programmed to fit a certain resolution screen.

What are the default values for the others in, say...the speaker phone menu.  You know, just in case we change the wrong one. Embarrassed

If you write them down when they come up, before you change anything. if you already have, then try search, someone has put them down. Quig

There is a thread on the forum for restoring sound files back to normal. You can download them to your pc and open with notepad and see the default values.

I would like to successfully up the levels for my blue tooth headset.  Can you help me with that?  I don't want to screw anything up and am not 100% sure which direction to go after entering the code.

Calls and music, if possible. I sometimes listen to music in one ear. Smiley

If I up the volume like this, will this also increase the speaker volume for the ringtones, phone sounds/noises, games/apps, etc.? If not, how do I do that? I'm looking to up the gain a little bit for all sounds the phone makes...
