Help/question:

9: go to settings-COM and select the port that is available...

Is this before or after I hook the phone to the computer? When I go to Settings-COM and drop down, nothing at all comes up

Turning off the phone without deleting the database will increase your chance of bricking your phone

...after you disconnect, right? As long as you're still usb'd to the computer, you can power cycle? Am I reading this correctly?

Also, I'm dragging and dropping from the top half of tkfe into the bottom half, right? For some reason, it won't let me drag my file into the folder I made, it drops it underneath. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I'm sorry for being such a pain, but I want to make sure I don't screw anything up/understand exactly what I'm doing before I do it. Apparently I don't understand plain  english, eh?  Cheesy

While putting the jads and jars on your phone sometimes you have to power cycle.Because TKFE is a pain in the butt and you will get disconnect errors. As long as you havent deleted the database file in my opinion it is safe to reboot the phone. I do not agree with that line you copied because sometimes you have to reboot. If you get the disconnect errors try restarting TKFE first. Reboot the phone as a last resort after you start adding jads and jars.

After you are 100% positive you have the jads and the jars in their respective folders then you can delete the database file. Then wait a few seconds then use the icon in TKFE to disconnect the connection. Then wait a few seconds and unplug your phone. Then wait a few seconds and reboot your phone.

If everything went well your phone should restart and the ganmes will be in the games/apps menu.

Then I would turn the phone off and insert the simcard back in and turn it back on and reload your contacts.

Instead of dragging and dropping, open the folder that you want the jad and jar to go in. Then in the top pain right click the jad and the jar and hit download. It will then download to the bottom window and into the folder.

I can't seem to get tkfe to work for the life of me. I uninstalled and reinstalled IC8 including the drivers. I tried multiple USB ports. I tried turning the phone on and off like 6 times while plugged in. I restarted my computer. I exited out of the pc studio and the one on the tray. I dont know what else to do.

The size of my jar below is bigger than the size of my jar above. Is this OK? When I was downloading, it "lost connection" I power cycled, and when I reconnected, the files were in there respective places, but were they done properly? I want to make sure before I delete any files and possibly wreck my phone

No, it wasnt fully downloaded. That happens more than you want it too. I wish I had the answer.  When it does just download over top of the incomplete file until it completes without an error. Sometimes it keeps giving the error. That is why you have to reboot the phone. And try again.

I think it is good practice to reboot your phone right before you connect with TKFE. It helps somewhat in getting complete downloads. Also try not to have open windows or messengers running. The less happening the better.

Ok, I've rebooted the computer twice, and rebooted the phone a dozen times, yet I still get the message "Error: The communication link is lost." when I attempt to connect to TKFE. I've read this entire thread, and done everything I am supposed to do. Somebody help?

Well, I searched around a little more, and finally figured it out. The instructions on removing the setting from "ask" were a little unclear. It should be stated that you actually need to go to the Connectivity menu under the Settings menu to change the connection setting to always connect to PC Studio.

After I did that, it worked easily.
