Well I thought all was well, but now that I have my Impression modem set up, when I'm not connected to it (just using my wi-fi) a window keeps popping up asking me to connect to the Samsung modem.  I went to my network connections and found that the Samsung modem was set as the default connection.  I removed that, thinking that the pop-up would stop.  Nope!  It randomly comes up and disables my wi-fi in the process.  I can't find anything else that would affect this.  What am I missing?

If we use it as a modem will it charge extra to our data plan? I know the PDA plans have a tethering plan but since I have unlimited Data for that extra 10 dollars will incur extra charges?

Only if you get caught. Wink

From what I have been told by friends who occasionally tether, if you don't do it often, and don't download tons of data then AT&T won't care. But if you try and use it as your primary internet connection AT&T will likely notice and intervene.

However, this is second hand knowledge as I don't tether myself, so I can't personally vouch for its validity.

Hi all.  New guy here on the boards with a question.  I've tried firebert's process (even got the same tutorial from AT&T on the *99# info) but when I try and connect it gives me a generic pop up: Failed to connect.  From there I have three options.  Try Again, Try A Different Connection, or Diagnose the Problem.  Selecting the last option gives me “Windows did not find any problems with this computer’s network connection.”

My computer:  Windows Vista 64-bit
My phone: Still on the 'Studio PC' USB Connection setting.  I'm seeing the little computer icon on the top of the screen showing me the phone is connected to the laptop.

Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance and loving all the info on the forums!

I had an unlimited data plan...  I can tether as part of that and do not have to pay extra?

If you are asking just because you have an unlimited data plan can you tether legally. The answer is no. You need to purchase a tethering plan or suffer the wrath of ATT.

Hello, this is my first post here.  I tether with my Impression but I pay for the tethering plan at $60.00 a month for up to 5 gigs.  It is very easy to do, just install the Samsung_NPS.IB5.exe version of New PC Studio from the Samsung site, plug in your USB cable, and click on "internet connect" and thats it...your connected.   It works very well, and when I am in a 3G area, I get blazing speeds.  I agree with agoattamer, dont cheat, pay for your broadband or face the wrath of ATT.   A wireless network has very limited capacity.  If everyone cheats, it will bring the network to a crawl.

That being said, I think the Impression is really cool! I use the ATT Navigator instead of using my On-Star and it even tells me about traffic jams miles ahead.   I also use it to play music thru a blue tooth connection.  The OLED display is great! Moodio is awesome on the Impression!  I can even download some and view attachments from my email.  This is the best phone I have ever had!  The features of a "Smartphone" without the lockups.

I dont do facebook but there is a number of apps for facebook and I never heard any complaints about it not connecting. But it might have something to do with the connection as you are using it as a modem.
