Alright, I am brand new at this, but I can hopefully help you mega640. I have windows xp. I also tryed the TKFE program and it didn't work. It kept not letting me connect. Then I tryed the QPST program and I recieved the same problems as you did.

BUT, I didn't quit yet.

1) I unplugged my phone, and deleted all my phone's modems from my pc.
2) ***I re-plugged in my usb CABLE into a new usb PORT on my pc.***
3) I changed my phone to QPST usb connection (in the instructions)
4) I re-downloaded the QPST program AND Drivers.
5) I re-plugged my phone and my pc automatically installed the new hardware (phone's modems)
6) Make sure your computer installs the QPST driver that the instructions said "Just next through it"
7) Then went to the QPST configuration program and found the "FFA/SURF 6290" thing, that was in the ports section.
Everything should work after that like the instructions say.
But you have to refer back to the TKFE instructions on how to finish getting a game/app to work on your phone. This is all after you unplug your phone and go into its database settings or whatever. Its in the instructions.

I really hope this helps you. If you have tryed all this already (switching usb ports on the PC) then I would gladly help figure out another way.

If anyone has problems with the port not showing up, you may have to manually install the driver.
1. run the Qualcomm_USB_Driver_install_2.0.3.9.exe found in the zip of the same name.(unless you already have)

2. choose where you want it to extract to

3. make sure it extracted to where you set it to.(it will be a folder called the same thing as the zip downloaded in the directory you chose)

4. go to the control panel an go to the device manager (in xp, you go to start, control panel, system, click the hardware tab, and click device manager)

5. then find the device called "Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9002", it should have a yellow question mark next to it

6. right click it and select update driver

7. select "install from a list or specific location" and click next

8. have "search for the best drivers in these locations" and "include this location in the search" checked and next to the box under it, click browse.

9. browse to the place where you had the driver extract to in step 2

10. then click next and it will search for the files in that location

11. it should find the driver, now accept what comes up asking you to confirm the installation

12. go through the original guide on page 1 starting from step 6, hope this helps  Smiley

Well decided to try QPST out on my solstice just for the heck of it never had a problem with TKFE but just wanted to see if it would run. It took a couple of tries to get it to recognize the com port but I did finally get it. When I ran the explorer it I was waiting for the ....elevator music to end..... but after about 20 min I thought it was hung up so I disconnected the cable and it showed an abort can not complete file transfer of mmc/.... that is the sd card. Since I have 8gb card almost filled to the max I realized that when QPST loads phone to pc it loads everything including the sd card contents. So I pulled the card and reconnected and I only had about 5 min of .....elevator music..... before I was able to access the phones file system. So if you do use this method make sure to pull your sd card before hand.
