Found out why I could't get online with my phone.
On one computer, the regular Impression driver wouldn't work, but Solice driver would.
On onother computer the regular Impression driver worked ok. Go figure.
However I couldn't get online with either one?
The error message said it was being used by another program?
What program?
Then I found out whenever I plugged the phone into the computer, PC Studio would run.
I tried shutting that down, then go online.
BINGO!!! That was the problem.
Now I go online with either computer.

My first post ever, to any forum.  Have been reading them for years.

I just purchased a Samsung Impression, and like all of you reading this thread found out that the driver for the USB cord does not work for any 64 Bit systems.  I am running Windows XP 64.  VKitty's walk through (below) is well documented, and easy to understand...thanks!  What I cannot find is the drivers.

VKitty says "download the drivers I have listed" but I do not see any drivers listed, nor links to them.  I do realize that the original post was updated, and maybe the links disappeared then.

If anyone can help me find the drivers I would be eternally grateful.  Thank you for your excellent forum.

If you have just got your Impression, or you did not install any of the PC Studio files.

Or you upgraded to windows 64bit (or windows 7) you can use the program listed below to allow TKFile Explorer to work.

I did not install any PC Studio, because every time I did it would hang and I would not be able to cancel it, nor could I delete it in Add & Remove programs.

I was running windows XP 64Bit.

Update:

I am running Windows 7 64Bit

I finally got TKFE to work with the drivers I have listed at the end of this message.

  • Download the drivers I have listed
  • (Dont have your phone plugged in) Run the exe file..It will unrar to a temp directory, then run the driver install program.  Complete the driver install.
  • Plug in your phone. It will NOT find the drivers
  • Go into device manager, and find SAMSUNG CMDA Technologies or something similar.  It will have a small yellow triangle in the left corner.
  • Right click and go to update driver software.
  • Click "browse my computer for driver software."
  • Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
  • Under Manufacturer find & Click "SAMSUNG Electronics Co, Ltd."
  • Under Models Click on "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modems"
  • Click next..It should update the drivers, so that you can use your phone with TKFE.

You now need to find the right COM port.

  • Go back to Device manager
  • There you should see under modems "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem"
  • Right click, and choose properties.
  • Under the modem tab you will see the COM port.
  • Open TKFE
  • Click on settings.
  • In the place where it says port enter the com port you found in the modem tab.  Make sure you have the word COM before the number.  "COM#"
  • Click on Connect and you should be connected

Thanks to rocketdogg and VKitty for the link.  My Impression phone now connects to my PC!  My a-ha moment was when I realized that I had to be logged in to see the link.  Ah, it all makes sense now.  Thanks again.

I think this is the modem driver VKitty had posted. Look at the bottom of my reply.

I got my regular modem drivers recognized. here is what i did.  I went to
control panel, device manager. samsung cdma.
right click and go to properties.
go to update driver.
browse my computer for driver software.
let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer
click have disk
click browse
go to the location where you unzippedusb modem drivers 4.40.7
choose sscdbus from the driver folder
I did exactly that with Drivers trying to use is:
MCCI WHQL USB Modem Driver 4.40.7

and the message I got was:

The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is desinged to work with Windows for x64-based systems.

I tried all the different drivers in several folders too.
Thank you! i did this but it worked for me.
