text messages notifications

Question:  Do the texts all come from the same phone number? Or group of phone numbers that you can store as contacts on the phone?

If so, you can give that personal contact/group it's own ringtone.  When you create the contact, it allows you to select a personal ringtone for that contact.  Try it out on a current contact and see if you like how it works.

If you don't see the option, make sure you are in the "edit" stage of the contact.

Quite right...I misread.  But that is also very doable and easy.

So when you're in the EDIT portion of the Contact info, click on the middle softkey "Add More Fields" and select "Message Tone" then save.  Now you can specify the message tone as well.  Cheers and thanks Lynmar.

I set my wife's text messages as a specific notification, and it works most of the time; however sometimes it uses the general notification instead- I cannot find rhyme or reason why it works sometimes and not others, but you can try it and see if it suits your needs.  (there are some great alarm sounds on the ringtone thread that would be great for emergencies!!)
