Anyone else having problems with the software finding your phone?  I have it installed but get an error message when trying to get it to connect to my phone.  The error message states that communication was lost with the device.  If you know how to fix this problem please let me know.  Thanks

I just posted elsewhere looking for advice. I have the same problem.

I have an Impression, and am trying to connect to TKFileExplorer. Have IC8 on one PC and the Eternity version IB5 on another. The Impression connects just fine to both.

Have shut down PC Studio on both, and disabled device monitoring. Have downloaded TKFileExplorer and left the phone connected via USB in PC Studio mode. Have selected the COM port available and clicked on connect. TK File Explorer looks to connect to the phone and a "Phone (P:)" disk drive icon appears with a + sign next to it, and then I get the error message "Error: The communication link is lost." Have tried to connect as well over a Bluetooth serial port. Same result.

What am I missing. How do I get the connection to stay? Anybody figured this out?

The 2 biggest things missed is to be sure phone is set to 'pc-studio' and not on 'ask'.  Try rebooting phone and computer with cable connected.

OH MY GOSH! I'm very very frustrated.

So I have an impression and I've been trying to install .jar and .jad files (apps and games and whatnot) on it for the past week and no luck whatsoever.

Here's what I've done:

I have NPS3 and it connects just fine with pc studio and it shows up and everything.
So then I open up TkFileExplorer 2.2 and try to open my phone up in there. First thing it does is says that it can't open it. So i turn off NPS and try again to connect it with TKFE... and at first it seems that it works, and the drive P:phone, shows up but then it says the connection is lost. I've tried everything possible to make it work. Reboot, reset, reinstall, re-everything. Even tried it on a different computer. Even tried it in different Windows. I looked up every single tutorial and blog and thread on how to install apps on this type of samsung touch phone....

please please please....

I really need some help. If someone could just please tell me how to get past that "connection is lost" in TKFE I would be VERY VERY VERY VERY thankful.....

Thanks in advance Smiley

This is a detailed summary from multiple posts.
[/color][/b][/u]

tkfe is very picky about how its connected via usb

also on tkfe make sure you click on the settings icon and select the available COM port (it becomes available when connected to your phone via USB)

make sure your phone is connected to pc studio by default.

Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Select USB Mode > PC Studio > [ save ]

phone MUST be on the main screen  before starting and connecting to tkfe.

1) IF it still wont connect, while phone connected through USB to your computer shut off the phone and turn it back on.

Then try and connect to tkfe again.

IF problem still occurs, you may need to close all running programs/windows on the desktop

then try to connect

IF unable to connect after trying steps above;

may need to restart computer and repeat step 1 while your at it..(TKFE is soo hard to PLEASE!)

IF still unable to connect then your screwed..because i'm now officially stumped.

[ tip ] if your constantly bombarded with phone calls and texts, try enabling airplane mode while using tkfe!

How about this forum? Have you bothered to look in the games secton or the third party apps section?  Please take the time to go through the forum. It doesnt take that long to read the top posts of each section.
