The phone runs on TouchWiz not Android...we are not even able to get Touchwiz 2.0 on this phone, so good luck with Android (i dont see the big deal about Android anyways.)

well,  its very possible. i guess i was wondering if anyone had a guide or new of a way to get android on the impression.

Also, the reason its a big deal/ why i like it is it has an app store,( i heard touchWiz was getting one too.), you can right your own code and change anything you want nothing is locked for example you can make an app that uses phone functions like gps. With the impression/touchWiz it has to be an at&t app.( i know the hacks to get around this and have done them, with google maps and Amaze.) but for me i just wanted to try it out lol.

No it actually is possible if u put the time and effort into it to put just about any OS on just about any device...my buddy has a G1 and he always tells me about new devices they managed to put Android on and so forth...the thing is that as Punisher said if some1 has already accomplished this there would be the tutorial online already...second as Goat said if u wanted Android why didnt u get an Android phone...now the funny thing is u and all ppl on the Android waggon will have to jump off oh so soon, because none other than the big bad execs at Google ARE ALREADY IN THE PROCESS OF BANNING THE USE OF THEIR OS BY PPL...to put this into lemons term...Google is stopping ppl from hacking their OS and rebuilding it into something more as u say like

My buddy is already contemplating leaving Google and T-Mobile to come to ATT and get on the TouchWiz OS...cuz with the TouchWiz OS u will never have to worry about THE BIG BAD EXECS FROM SAMSUNG SHUTTING DOWN A SITE BECAUSE THEY TWEAKED THEIR OS.

I haven't seen any news on this.  Android os is open source.  I believe you are thinking of the "Cyanogen's Android Mod incident".  That involved the redistribution of google's apps that come with Android.  Such as Gmail and a few others.

But yes, as Damien said, if you really wanted to you could put Android on a Samsung Impression.  I don't think anyone has done it so it would most likely take a few months to do.

i will be the first to install android if someone has found a way to do it!!! at&t and samsung put too many limits and controls on the phone!!! the flexibility of android is the appeal!! nothing is locked and you can delete anything you don't want and continuous updates!!! doesn't sound appealing to you??

All carriers and all manufacturers have things locked down on phones. Its not just samsung and ATT. And if it is ever possible to install android on the impression, (which will never happen) you won't be the first.
