This code is found while attempting to unlock the phone; it doesn't work past the first set of numbers for me at least.  Use this information at your own risk!!!
Note:
- Warning: Step 1 is the hard reset code (a.k.a. Master Reset to Factory settings)!!!  Anything unsaved to memory card/added by the "Master Key" > TKFE process will be deleted; i.e. games & apps.  Also, unsaved notes, wallpaper photos, and anything added to the Impression will be removed.  The only exception I found is texts stored on the phone should be safe (however, I only had under 20 in the Inbox and 12 in the Sent box).

Here are the steps:
1.) Dialpad *2767*3855#
(Suppossively remove & reinsert the SIM card without taking out battery before phone restarts)
2.) Dialpad *7465625*638*00000000*00000000#
3.) Dialpad  #7465625*638*00000000#
Steps 2 & 3 numbers may be invalid.  Maybe I didn't take the SIM card out, as it seemed to respond to Steps 2 & 3 only once.  However, it does not brick the device.

Second is a way to alter the internal settings.  Do not change things you are unsure of!!!  I did once, and I didn't get AT&T service for my device.  I accessed it again, changed a few things, and it was stuck on the "Goodbye" screen.  I removed/reinserted the battery, and the phone now operates (at least sends out a text and voice calls).  I'm unsure if the changes I made took effect, or removing the battery canceled them.  Anyway, here is the sequence to type: Dialpad *2767*2878#

If anyone has more codes to add, be my guest!  Remember, this may not be under warranty, so do so at your own risk!

Long-time Cingular/AT&T user; I've owned & used these devices, in order from oldest to newest: LG CE500, Motorola ROKR E1, Samsung Sync, HTC 8525, & Samsung Impression [AT&T replacing it with the LG Vu Plus].

I upgraded due to AT&T's rude desire to require the $30/month smartphone data plan!  So, I have an unlimited messaging plan only.

I am lost as to what this thread is supposed to say. What does this have to do with master reset? How is that step 1? Then you say steps 2 and 3 may be invalid. Please clean up this thread as a purpose as it is quite confusing and will only cause those who havent a clue to brick their phones. Or just delete please.

I understand that you just got out of the hospital and are still groggy, so I'll go easy on you.

The first set of codes is used to unlock the phone, whereas it can be used with a SIM card from T-mobile or any other GSM network in the world.  That is why the start-up says it is a "World Phone".    From what I have read, this process does not brick any phone.  Personally, I have used this series of codes 5 times and my Impression still works flawlessly.

The second code [ Dialpad *2767*2878# ] is where someone needs to know the technicality/specifics of a phone's make-up.  It should only be altered by experts.  From memory, I recall there is a sound decibels settings, GSM network test, and many other technical settings.  This is the code where changing settings could brick the Impression.

The point of the thread was to have experts who know mobile settings to tweak things and hopefully figure out how to correct the phone issues, such as the delayed qwerty keyboard and the infamous text bug.

P.S.  "Step 1" is the only code to Hard Reset the Impression.

And as I said what does the master reset step have anything to do with unlocking the phone? And what does unlocking the phone have to do with the title about accessing the internals.

It is I am that am going easy on you right now. The post is a mess. Gives no tutorial. Bunches a few codes together that have nothing to do with each other nor the title. You even stated that you messed up your phone because of it.

So again I ask what is the point of this thread.. To unlock your phone, master reset, or your other code that claims to enter the settings somehow but only gives me bad command? Except I know that if you hit back this is actually a back door into the service menu which is nothing new. There are a few. I prefer the front door. *#197328640#  This is not the internals.

I intended the thread to be about all codes to access the internals of the Impression.  Expecting the experts here to take the internal settings and tweak them so we don't have to wait for Samsung to get off their high horse and help us.  Also, internal implies that nothing needs to be done over-the-air, by TKFE, or via the computer and USB cable.

As for the Master Reset, I don't know why it's required.  Ask on the gsmhosting boards, but good luck getting a reply!  The link I found the codes from, http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f200/all-samsung-hard-reset-codes-588846, is for European and Asian phones, but some codes work on the Impression.  My best guess is that the mobile phone users add the codes before using it, or they take it to a store that unlocks the mobile for them.  Unlocking, debranding, removing the IMEI, etc. seems to be a big cash cow over there and very popular.  IMEI unlocking has become illegal there, so some IMEI black-listed mobile phones get sent to the USA, as the IMEI black list doesn't exist in the USA.

I am by no means a programmer, just a program tester of sorts.  Again, I am leaving the sorting of codes to experts, I just wanted all the special codes to be read in one thread, not 20.

And that is just the service menu. Nothing new. I gave you the code to go through the front door. We have used this menu to change volume, usb configuration to use qpst, testing devices and so on. This has been known since of the start of the forum. Again the correct terminology is service menu and not internals.

OK I changed the title.  The Service Menu is a new discovery to me is my point; I thought it was something unexplored.

If the thread will be used to explain what each option does, that would be great.  However, if you insist that I delete this thread, I will.

The thread seems to be developing direction now. As with the internals, the service menu can cause harm to your phone too. But I guess you found that out already. Be careful.
