I'm sure someone has asked this but i didn't see it on this forum, but do you think its possible to configure the phone to access your internet connection through the usb or maybe even bluetooth? I woulda bought a phone with wifi but this one was the best thing i could get without getting a data plan. since i don't have data plan and my phones even set up with the data-opt-out, i don't get to see how awesome this browser is. well, unless i download an html file or something to the phone lol.

I did have it working on the impression. I stopped at the time because our phone would only suspend but now we can minimize. I might look into it again.

I was only looking into hiisi so members without internet did not have to risk bricking their phones when installing apps. With the discovery of the master key it gave us this safe approach.

Also I do not understand. With bluetooth you will need to be like 10 feet away from your pc. Might as well use the pc to browse the net instead of the phone then.

yea thats the bad part unfortunately, you would basically have to be in the same room as your computer.  Sad  Just an idea though

i got a usb dongle & in linux i can browse my computer's files, download what i want, and vice versa. i tried something when i first got the bluetooth dongles, and gave up because it was not working out in windows and some other things. like linux' lack of TKFe.. i'm looking for that tkfe replacement app agoattamer put up here a while back. i will find that. then i will try out this thing i just downloaded. it is supposed to let you control your pc via bluetooth or gsm, and you get to see your desktop on your phone. i think last time when i found something like this, (server exe and client jar) i got that TKFE thing agoat put up here, and i didnt get around to using it before my hard drive crashed. that's november. so now that i have the bluetooth & everything, i will try some stuff, like this RemotePc thing and whatever was in that video.
i bought these dongles cheap like 8 bucks each because none of them listed what they can actually do. there were big ones, little ones. some of the little ones cost over 20 bucks. none of them said anything better than the other though, so i just got the little =D shaped one. there are certain services that i can't use. i'm not sure if its the dongle or the phone though. back when i was trying to do that proxy-stuff and the PAN, i also tried to figure out a way to use my phone as a bluetooth headset for my computer, because my bluetooth headset wont connect to the computer.
maybe i should have bought the big one that looked like a usb drive. either way, for the price it is very useful. i can browse my computers files, my computer can browse my impression's files. i don't have to install those data-suites for other people's phones just to send them a few things from my computer. (if i want to do alot of transfer, i just put the microsd in my computer because the transfer speeds are way faster.)
geeks.com, dealextreme. dealextreme probably has the same thing cheaper and with free shipping. i just needed some stuff that geeks.com had, like a laptop hd, some pcmcia cards.
anyway, i'm going to test some things out, because i know its possible.. just maybe it has been limited on our phones, playing that game that Apple plays..
when you connect the phone via bluetooth in windows, it will tell you that no devices supporting PAN are around. so i'm gonna give it a shot with a java-app client, see what they can do. then if i try and don't succeed enough times, i might just open up my phone and make sure there is no spot on the circuit board where they were planning to add wifi capabilities.
for about $100 more, i could have gotten a phone with Wifi w/o the plan, or a cheap laptop w/ wifi. when i make a little cash, i am going to get one of the two.
that was really long. that's what happens when i post around 3am.
main point of this really long post: i'ma get back to trying to figure this out.
btw, the samsung impression recognizes animated .gifs.
a little sluggish.. but at least it plays them when you view them.
