If you've got Netflix, this movie is up for streaming right now. It's HIGHLY worth watching. It's not particularly entertaining, but it gives you an amazing view of where your cheap groceries, and fast food come from, and the process they go through before reaching your hands.

If you don't have Netflix, rent it...

This Documentary seriously changed the way I think about food, and makes me really wish I was wealthy enough to support sustainable farms, and organic growers. I'm not a huge 'go green' guy, and before watching, I really TBH didn't think much of Organics, and sustainable foods... they were just more expensive, with little benefit to me. Now, I realize the benefit isn't the taste, or anything like that. You'll understand what I mean after watching the movie.

Now all I need is a better job... and all I will buy is Sustainable/Organic foods. The factory farms disgust me with their methaods, and practices of driving others out of the market.

For those who think Wal-Mart is a big enemy... you also need to see this movie. Wal-Mart ain't perfect, by any means, but their support of sustainable farmers, and organic foods is increasing, mostly due to customer demand.

You do know that most documentaries are made to enforce an idea or point of view right?  I am sure that organic is healthier for you (probably will add a week or two to someone’s life).  However, I am guessing that the documentary shows the horrible conditions that SOME farms raise animals in.  Remember, not all farms are equal, some are horrible, some are great.  Don't let a agenda driven documentary convince you every non-organic or non-"sustainable" farm is even.  BTW, sustainability is the second biggest scam going around right now, right after Carbon Offset Credits.

It's(good food, not the movie) not about the "week or two" you add to your life, more about feeling good for the rest of your life. It's a known fact that proper diet will GREATLY reduce you chance of contracting most kinds of cancer, as well as completely remove various diseases. United States has the highest incidence of obesity(high fructose corn syrup a main contributor)and multiple cancers, as well as useage of processed foods. Not a scam, not "hippie ideas", just cold hard facts. Just take a look at other country's like India or Japan just to name a few.(ps: look up Dr. Neal Barnard)

BTW, Havent seen this movie yet, but ill bet i know whats coming ; )

Of course they're made that way... I'm quite sure EVERYONE is aware of that, and if they're not, they're living in a cave.

and it's not about shopping organic, or anything. It's about the food industry, and how it's completely ruined our diets, changed our economy, and run small farmers just trying to do their jobs out of business. The conditions of some of these farms is a small puzzle piece of the movie. It's only a little about eating organic. It's about eating HEALTHY... not just corn...

Sustainable farming is far from a scam... If you think it's a scam, then apparently you think that farmers since the beginning of time have been scamming people. I guess if you think that, sure... you're right... it's a total scam.

Watch the movie... then make a decision. If you don't agree, that's one thing, but really, you've completely pre-judged the movie without even having seen it. When you see what Monsanto has done, I don't care WHO you are... it will make you mad, and that's just a small portion of the movie.

If you define sustainable farming as rotating crops so as to not bring the minerals out of balance then I believe in sustainable farming.
If you define sustainability as no using anything that isn't renewable, that is impossible, 99% of fuels, the majority of electricity and all synthetics (plastics, rubber, paint, ect) are by definition non-sustainable.  It is nearly impossible to reach true sustainability that the warm and fuzzy version of sustainability being flaunted these days (by companies and poloticians) is a joke.  Sure they might but sustainable fertalizer, or raw materials, but what about their tractor? or their power? or their packing materials.

Additionally, anything farmed in California of most of the great plains in unsustainable due to the vast water shortages in those areas, yet I am guessing more California farms claim to be sustainable then any other state.

Monsanto has put alot of people out of jobs here in Iowa. Im not sure the story behind it, other than they have bought out most all small-mid sized seed corn producers, leaving only two conglomerates left. Don't matter so much to me however, I feed pigs/turkeys at animal farms(no way related to George Orwell lol) from a big jerk truck

True...if a family budget is tight, shopping Organic and eating healthy costs more than going down to the local McDonald's and buying something off of their dollar menu, so people are ending up eating processed food or paying more for healthier options. Just take a look at most restaurants, even a McDonald's (not to keep picking on them)...salads cost just as much or more than some entrees nowadays.

I used McDonald's as an example, but it applies to most processed foods. It costs less to eat processed food vs organic. But there is also the matter of convenience too and processed foods are everywhere whereas you need to shop at certain places for organic foods, hence the higher prices also.
