Personally the Inspire.  Tho the Atrix is amazing in its own rite.  If you go to engaget and research the two, you can get a better idea of what they offer.  Also, the thread captivate vs. inspire is helpful.  I would go to an official ATT store and play with them both- you will get a feel of each one and see their functionality.  I think you will like either one you choose.

Both are great phones.  The Atrix has much new technology in it.  That could be good if it works and bad if it doesn't.  The hardware is basically all new.  How will it perform a few months from now is yet to be confirmed.  Many apps have a hard time running on the Atrix but they are getting better.  It is a powerhouse but with a smaller screen.

The Inspire has a proven track record.  The hardware is very similiar to the Evo, Thunderbird, HD2, and the same as the Desire HD which is my new phone.

Also you need to understand that niether of these phones are true 4G.  That is a big fat ATT fib to stay up with the T-mobile 4G lie.  They are working on LTE which is true 4G maybe by the end of the year.  This will require new phones not yet available.  Maybe you might want to wait.

so I've been to at&t store a couple times to mesh around with the inspire and the atrix

have tried 2 different atrix's and both have froze several times
also can not get pinch to zoom to work on yahoo (anyone else seen this)

the inspire seems pretty solid no real issue with it other than
user error (first time playing with android) but have one question about it does it have video out the reps at store not much help

also have question about data i have the impression now with unlimited data and use 20meg on a low month up to 80 one month
average is probably 50-60 do you think 200 plan with fit me or go with the 2gig

thanks

No it does not have video out.  I am going to take a stab at it and say if the phone has the micro usb connector then there is no video out.  I don't believe the micro usb is capable of video out with so few pins.  I know I do not have it.

Now let me tell you about the data.  Android phones are only good in my opinion if you have data.  They are constantly connecting for syncing of email, weather, location, and so on.  Most of the apps use some kind of data.  Even if you don't use data you will use data.  Trust me.  You can use wifi as much as you can which will really help keep the data count down.  Best advice I can give is start with the 200MB plan.  Keep an eye on your data useage.  If you notice that it won't be enough contact ATT and have them bump you up to the 2GB plan.

Or......here is what I did.  I wanted the Inspire but not the plan.  I bought a Telus Desire HD (dang near the exact phone) from canada. Only the storage amount and logo is different.  So far it seems that ATT can't detect the phone I have.  So I am still on my impression unlimited data plan for $10.

Goat you always seem to find the phone that allows you to get around the data plan first the HTC HD2 now the telus desire HD gotta love it LOL  Wink

I have to agree with Goat on the data android phones seem to use allot even when you think your not it is. I used to average around 200mb a month on my impression and solstice but on my Aria with similar usage I average around 1.5gb a month i don't stream music or video either. So if you go with the 200mb plan you are definitely going to want to keep a close eye on your data usage you can check an att android same as you can with the your impression if dial *3282# att will send you text message with your current data usage for the month and the texts do not go against your text plan they are free.  Wink

It is the Desire HD. Model A9192.  Any other model Desire HD will not give you 3G/H on ATT.  Not the Desire.

I am really loving my Inspire.  I ordered a rugged case for it from Seidio.com (dropped my first one and traded it in, then dropped my second one this morning.  Can't wait for the case to come in!!)

There are things to get used to and the reception is ok- but when I traded in the original phone, I asked for a new sim and that seems to have improved it a bit. Battery is not that good, but I hear it gets better after a few weeks of use.  Also if you want more technical information, try the XDA forum for the Inspire.  It is a bit over my head, but I have gotten some good info from there.
