Thanks,

The phones have an anternal intenna. Those antenna boosters that look like stickers don't really do anything.

Putting the foil on your head really does protect your mind from the probing satellites of major league baseball.

The foil would have to be connected to the antenna to do any good. Thats a fact. It would actually do more harm by shielding your phone from signals.

Now there might be a way. This does work for wifi. I have tried it. So it might work for cell signals too. Get yourself a soup strainer. One made of wire mesh. Preferably about 12 inches in diameter. And place your phone in the center like a parabolic receiver. You should be able to move it around and aim it and that might improve your signal.

LOL. The actual word is a collinder or strainer. Its what you pour your spaghetti in to drain the water. Some are plastic. Some are metal with holes. The one that works best for wifi is the wire mesh ones. A solid metal bowl will bounce the signals around.

There is a video on youtube for wifi. I will see if I can find it for you. You have to see it. It does work. I have done it for wifi.

Here is a wifi booster. Not the video I was looking for but it shows what I mean. The other video showed some getting like 10 wifi signals and after doing the trick he received like 40.  Not sure how you would put your phone in this and be able to use it. Maybe with a bluetooth headset but its a cool idea.

Well you actually use it to aim. So putting your phone under it would defeat the purpose. You are aiming it into the floor. Not sure if it will work with cell signals anyways.

Unfortunately, unless the antenna length is exactly the size it needs to be to tune to the specific frequency of the signal the phone is sending out, then there really isn't any perfect signal booster. Bigger & longer antennas should work, but only if the length is correct. otherwise it can actually make the signal worse.

I'm not sure where it is on the impression as I have a solstice, but somewhere under the battery cover (most likely) there is a small little connector. I believe that is an "external antenna" connector, which could boost reception. It is not for GPS, as I've seen it on 5 or so other phones, all without GPS.

Finding the right connector is the problem though.

Also, extending the antenna is possible, to any length, as you are increasing the area, and length doesn't effect the signal as much as walker is suggesting. The problem is how many "twists" or "coils" are in the wire. If you ever get the chance to look at the antenna on the circuit board, you'll notice it zig-zags a few times, and this is the important part.

Finally, even if you manage to find something that works as a better antenna, it will only do so much better. You will be able to increase the sensitivity of the phone, but you cannot increase the power output, so sending signals back to the tower won't go much further.
