I had the same network access issue with the pin widget. Using TKFE i checked WidgetStatus.ini in Phone/Registry/ ... the option NetworkAccess was set to 0. I set it to 1 and now everything works    Hope this helps...

Problem is most of the widgets are garbage. Half are clocks or calendars. Just how many clocks do you need to know the time? The accuweather seems to be a whole application. Would be better if I could get radar or more info. A browser shortcut works much better in my opinion. The rest of the widgets out there are just internet shortcuts. I think our medianet favorite widget can handle all these by itself and takes up less space.

Widgets are big and collide with other widgets. Clutter, clutter, clutter. The only widgets I would like to see would be shortcuts to installed apps and I want them alot smaller in size. But according to the SDK, menu shortcuts are not possible. Boo!

Hopefully samsung will come up with a menu widget. Until then, the only widgets I need are the medianet favorites and the favorite 5 widgets.

I find the weather widget enjoyable so far but I agree that the rest of them are pretty pointless.  I leave them all docked besides the 5 favorites and this weather one cause they just get in the way.  I would be pumped if their was a way to link to applications through a widget!
There is, we just havent figured it out yet. At least one of the widgets on my phone (Solstice) does this.

I pulled that info straight from the samsung sdk about no shortcuts for menu items. Can you tell me the exact name of the widget?  menu/settings/display and light/widget

Maybe I can find it on the web if it is not in your widget folder.

Ok, well, maybe I wasn't quite right about that. The Nuance voice dialing application is widget activated, though I dont think you can also activate it through the menus, except the settings portion of the app.

Did messing with the network access allow the pin widget to work or did you have to edit the widgetstatus.ini file?

So everyone wants widgets. Well here is a way to get them. I posted a few down below that worked on this phone. There are others i will list after i try them out. I dont want to risk anyone elses phone. So here is how to get them.

There are 2 ways to get widgets. We need someone to host them on their site with the appropriate code. Or you can register at the samsung innovator site.

http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/wgt/cp.do?platformId=12

This link is for the widget test page. After you register you can upload widgets here and then download them to your phone using a pin widget that you will have to download from their site first.  Now this site is supposed to be for widgets that you personally make. So if you upload a widget, after you download it to your phone then delete the widget from the test page.

You upload a widget to the test page by clicking on register. You will have to enter a name and a description and hit save. To download select the pin download method. This gives you the pincode to enter on your phone. If you dont have the pin widget yet it also gives you the link to get it on your phone using your phone.

Then using the pin widget enter the pincode and you will then download and install the widget.

I had issues getting the pin code to connect the first time. Change your browsers network profile and then reboot your phone. Then change it back to medianet and it was able to connect.

One more thing. There seems to be no way to delete widgets once they are installed on your phone.

The translate widget will translate from one language to another and there are many languages to choose from. Best using this widget on a light background. The translated words are black and hard to see. If anyone would like to wait on that one I am going to see if i can get the text color changed.

where did you get the whether cnn and translate widgets from? they weren't on the samsung innovator website i would like to see the selection of widgets that work for our phone

After further review, I have found the Solstice has at least 2 widget launched applications. Nuance voice control launches exactly the same by widget and from the menu, and the web browser also can launch from the menu and by widget.

Funny I didnt see any nuance voice control apps in the file system. It must be embedded. The impression can also open up medianet with a widget and it too is embedded. But niether is a java app. I take it the social networking widgets do not have anything to do with iskoot notifier?

AT&T Navigator can also be widget launched, though I have yet to attempt this for obvious reasons.

i altered the widgetstatus.ini file by changing the network access to 1, uploaded it to my phone and overwrote the old file, disconnected from tkfe, then rebooted the phone.
