Text mail alerts? Such as screen coming on or blinking light?

Of course, that's official, so it's probably just AT&T wanting your money. 

Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated.
Any way to have the existing message box that pops up on the first incoming message continue to do so would be great. Or any backlight that comes on every so often telling you there is a message would be great too.
It vibrates every so often when I have an unanswered message, so maybe a backlight that comes on whenever it vibrates?

Good example of why I need it, was my Mom, age 86, needed me to take her to the doctors today and she texted me and I didn't see it until after her appointment. The phone was on my desk the whole time. I had missed the first text when it lit up, (getting coffee or out of the room).


Well, I have the text plan and all. But there is nothing in there on screen or backlight Alerts.

It seems that blackberry and iPhone has all the goodies.

That's too bad... I really liked this phone, but I MUST have a better alert system.
I'll go back to using my Blackjack II which is a smart phone and has those features and wait for the price to come down on the new iPhone 4's.

Just to clarify.  Your other phones you installed an app to make your display blink. That is what you said. So the phones did not have that feature themselves. So how did samsung cut their own throat? Mine doesn't cook me breakfast in the morning.
