I'm not a hacker.  Grin

I can help though. (Maybe.)

I'll look into this. If there isn't a setting in the menus or a file I can edit in TKFE (*cough*nv_default.ini*cough*) then there will probably not be  a solution.

Here's what I dug up: http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/articles-resources/disability-resources/hearing-aid-compatibility.jsp#tap

Of course, that's official, so it's probably just AT&T wanting your money.  Grin

Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated.
Any way to have the existing message box that pops up on the first incoming message continue to do so would be great. Or any backlight that comes on every so often telling you there is a message would be great too.
It vibrates every so often when I have an unanswered message, so maybe a backlight that comes on whenever it vibrates?

Good example of why I need it, was my Mom, age 86, needed me to take her to the doctors today and she texted me and I didn't see it until after her appointment. The phone was on my desk the whole time. I had missed the first text when it lit up, (getting coffee or out of the room).

Well, I have the text plan and all. But there is nothing in there on screen or backlight Alerts.

It seems that blackberry and iPhone has all the goodies.

Well, the Blackberries and iPhone have all the good stuff because they are smartphones.

Unfortunately, I cannot come up with a solution to this problem. Of course, it has only been a day since helping out in this thread, so I will keep looking and keep you updated.

I'm always happy to help!

I'll keep looking for a solution to your problem. Are you willing to pay a one time fee of >$20/$30? There might be things you can buy that might help you. Will also look for those too.

Sorry Jack. Didn't find anything. Maybe another set of eyes could help, but I'm out of ideas.

Go get yourself a nice shiny new iPhone (maybe even the 4), or wait for the new Blackberry that might hit AT&T soon.  Grin

That's too bad... I really liked this phone, but I MUST have a better alert system.
I'll go back to using my Blackjack II which is a smart phone and has those features and wait for the price to come down on the new iPhone 4's.

Well, that settles it, I missed a real important call yesterday as I had the phone on the computer desk, (can't have it on my person all the time, especially when it is hot) and didn't catch the call from Mom that Dad was in the hospital.

The phone is going up for sale today on craigslist and I'm going back to my Blackjack which has the blinking LED when I get a text mail. I'll get a iPhone 4 in a couple month.

Samsung cut their own throat with this phone...

Just to clarify.  Your other phones you installed an app to make your display blink. That is what you said. So the phones did not have that feature themselves. So how did samsung cut their own throat? Mine doesn't cook me breakfast in the morning.  Wink

Goodluck with your next phone.

First, the Blackjack has a led that can blink in different colors with a app program.
The Impression has NO app programs that will do that

Second, the Blackjack can have their backlight come on at certain times with a app program.
The Impression has NO app programs that will do that.

The impression seriously lacks in APPS.

The blackjack can almost cook breakfast, the impression cannot.  Roll Eyes

This IS Samsung's fault with that phone.
However the Blackjack was NUMBER 1 for all smartphones in Consumer Guide in 2009, even beating out the iphone.

Therefore the Blackjack is a much better phone.
