Can someone help me?
I applied a <300kb ringtone to my phone and I connected it to my computer and pressed PC studio...and it's not doing anything. It just has a computer icon on the top. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have PC Studio installed on your computer? Also, if you don't have auto detect on, start up the PC Studio application manually (the PC Studio application on the computer).

I got it to work- this is a very cool trick but one problem is that the new "ringtone" that I replaced, ends up in my music library as a song. Ugh. So now I have the song, and the ringtone(portion of the song) in my mp3 library.

There is no setting in the internals. Every cell phone I ever had, had a limitation on ringtone size. That included nokias, motorolas, S.E., and samsuing.
Wow.. quoting an old post here.

I previously had a debranded Sony Ericsson and it didn't have a ringtone size limit.

does anyone know how to delete the bypassed ringtone from your mp3 library without deleting the actual ringtone from the phone?

HTC phones are only more customizable, because they are smartphones. The Samsung Impression is a feature phone, using a software template by AT&T. Samsung got paid to make this phone the way it is by AT&T. HTC makes their phones then sells them to the carrier (exceptions apply).

ZTE feature phones (the really cheap ones like the R6/T6, R100/T100, R106/T106, etc.) don't have this limit.

And ZTE feature phones are pretty much the definition of cheap pieces of crap.

Yet, there they are doing things that this Samsung Impression can't.

Oh well, I'm not worried. Like aggoattamer says, I'm not trying to listen to ringtones for several minutes. Smiley

If I want to hear music, I'll use the Music Player function.

I can get this to work every time from PC studio OR memory card, with an unfortunate catch.

It seems that you have to perform this method EACH AND EVERY time you want a new ring tone that is larger than 300K.

Once you are using that file that is greater than 300K you are stuck with it.

If you switch it to another that is less than 300K, it WILL NOT go back unless you go through PC studio and run this method again.

Better than nothing...
