If it goes green, then the goatbreaking method worked correctly. Sounds like you are not getting a good cell tower connection or you are inside. The only way it would turn red is if you lost data connection or there are objects blocking the signal.

well, i had uninstall it and then re-install it again and this time it seems to be holding.  I haven't done anything different.  Oh, well as long as it works that is all that matters.

Hey Agoattamer, You seem extremely knowledgeable of all this stuff...because I need some help lol. First I installed the pc studio version ib5...then I downloaded the tkefileexplorer from the megaupload link in the forums. So heres my problem, first the version ib5 is not detecting my impression and second when I connect my impression to the usb, there is this message that says drivers not recognized and windows update looks for the drivers. The only reason im asking u this is because tke does not recognize anything in any ports and I really dont want to mess up my new phone, but i find what at&t is doing by locking up the gps chip is really dumb so I really need your help bud. Thanks I appreciate it!

Did you install PC-studios before you connected your phone? Ive seen this before and thinking that might be the issue. Uninstall all versions of PC-studio and any samsung drivers in your add/remove programs in the control panel. Reboot your phone and install version IB5 then connect your phone.

Amaze works amazing but the satellite view and the hybrid say no data lol...but the gps and the normal map work perfect...i tried it out today and it was amazing...Thanks agoattamer for all your info on goatbreaking! Now i have gps without paying att for their software!

No problem killer. Amaze only has sat view in a few select major cities in the united states. If you want a sat view map I recommend the new version of Google  Maps I recently posted.

http://www.samsung-impression.org/third-party-samsung-impression-software/full-screen-touch-google-maps/

And in case you dont know the Yellow Pages App is free also on your phone and that uses a gps. Niether of those 2 have talking turn by turn directions but both have very good search functions. And google maps is simple and the hybrid map is a nice view.

I followed the instruction for installing it over the air, then delete the manifest file and the appdb directory, but it cannot detect my gps? Any suggestions?

What color is the gps icon? Green or red? Did you select menu/center on gps in the app? Are you outside or inside?

The satilite is red. I do not see menu/center as an option under "menu".  I am inside right now and am going outside in 1 minute.  brb.....

Ok, the satellite went green outside. I had to delete my car radio from the blue tooth devices, but I'm not so sure I had to do that. It did locate my position correctly. It did come back with an error message, but then I restarted and did not see that error again.
I thik its working correctly now, thanks.  I only tested the Map function. Tonigh on my way home from work I will test out the navigation function.  Much better then paying ATT $10/month for a device I can but for $150.  I can't believe ATT really think $10/month is a fair price.

I drove home with it and it worked great, cant believe it is free. BTW, it did work with multiple devices connected to the bluetooth. Sadly, the voice comes through my car stero since it is also bluetoothed to my phone and with a lag, so I miss the first word. but np, I just disconnect the stero if using the gps

Its not exactly a lag. A bluetooth doesnt stay on all the time with that program. And it doesnt try to turn on till its time for amaze to say something. So that is why you miss the first seconds. Amaze needs to tell the bluetooth a few seconds ahead of time to turn on so it would be ready to speak.

I wonder if I were to edit the sound files and put a 1 second of silence in the beginning if that would work
