If you read the first post it mentions apps that you download to install that need special permissions. These are apps that are not signed by att. They might need permissions to use the internet, access the filesystem, use bluetooth, or use gps. If the app or game does not need any of these permissions then there is no sense goatbreaking the app. Also you do not need to goatbreak if you install by TKFE or BlueFTP. This is only for OTA(over the air) installs.

Goat,
Just tried my first attempt at goatbreaking. Failed.  Failed miserably.  All right not that bad, but here is what happened.

I downloaded the JAVA app from www.youversion.mobile/download OTA.  During download, it said it was not signed, continue or go back.  I continued.  It installed but had d-pad and was asking permissions with every move I made.  So I goatbroke it according to directions including adding the last line to remove the d-pad.  After reinstalling it, it would not even start up.  Just would shut down every time.  I deleted it from the phone and downloaded again from the site.

This time, I uploaded the entire file to my desktop and deleted EVERYTHING except the jar.  I used JADGEN to make a new Jad and this time installed it via BlueFTP.  It worked, but still had d-pad.  I opened up the jad file and added the last line.  It made it full screen but I realized it was not fully touch screen.  Certain parts of the app are touch screen, then other parts needed the d-pad.  (I was stuck on the opening screen  Undecided).  Is there a way to get rid of the d-pad and have the entire app touch?  I am including the original JAR and JAD from the site if you want to play around with it.

Thanks for your advice.  Using the D-Pad is not that bad, but if it can be removed and the app work 100% that would be great!

If the app is not touchscreen we cannot make it touchscreen. So you are stuck with the dpad.

No. That is not the purpose of goatbreaking. It is for non ATT apps that you download to install and that need special permissions.

After a few tries I finally think I got this to work with the GMail app, it will finally go to landscape view and the DPAD is no longer there, but it's not allowing me to use my keyboard so now I have no means of entering text, what am i doing wrong?

Also if I am going to go back into the JAD file and add or change something, do I also need to re-delete the appdb file again and reboot my phone each time?

After I upload the JAD to my computer I should be deleting the JAD on my phone reworking the one on my computer then downloading it back to my phone yes?

OK so if I tap on the field I want to enter text in it brings me to a blue screen, then if I tap on the blue screen it brings me to yet another black screen that I can finally use my keyboard in. So my keybosrd is working but it's a rediculously long process to get to the place where I can. Theres got to be an easier/better way, or is this as good as it gets?

That is it. Some apps require you to tap through the blue screen. The result of 3rd party apps.

If you are referring about that geo caching microsoft tag app.....I tried it and it is a no go. I have heard of other apps accessing the camera. So my guess is the geo caching microsoft tag app just isn't written correctly.

Will check the link.

Thats where I saw it. Yes I tried both. Use of the camera is included with proper certificates or goatbreaking. I too got the infinite camera loading screen. My guess is that their software is just incompatible.
