Hi all, I am new to this forum. I would like to than Agoattamer for his hard work at cracking the Samsung phones.
I have 4 NONSMART phones on an ATT account and for the past year I have used ALL of them for tethering with the "Unlimited Data for NONSMART phones" plan for only $10/month per phone. It has worked FLAWLESSLY. I have used HUNDREDS of GIGABYTES per month with NO CONSEQUENCE. In fact I never hid from anything, as AT&T reps all over the board told me it was perfectly within terms.
Recently, I found this forum looking to unlock my GPS for use with aftermarket apps. I followed the instructions, and it worked GREAT for MgMaps and AMAZE. But I couldn't get GoogleMaps to pull my gps.
BUT.......the point of this post is.........COINCIDENTALLY, less than 24 hours after I "goatbroke" my phone and started playing with the gps, I got a text from ATT saying "Did you know tethering a Smartphone to a computer requires a tethering plan?".
I called them and they are now insisting I stop tethering because it is in violation of their fine print terms and if I don't, I will get charged$$$$
Now, I don't know for sure if goatbreaking and master keying my phone somehow initiated some sort of change in my account in their system, but the circumstances are suspicious. I only got these texts on TWO of my phones, both of which have NOT been used extensively tethering in the past month, in fact one, my wife's phone and primary on the account, has hardly any data usage at all comparatively. However the two phones that I HAVE been using for LOTS of data DID NOT GET THE TEXTS! So I am really confused as to what actually went down, and if they will hit up all of my phones now, or just the one, or just the two, or what?

If anyone has any knowledge on this, please advise.
I just wanted to put this out there to let everyone be aware and hopefully someone who knows way more than I do will enlighten me.
