Hello everybody. I was playing with my Impression 3 days ago at my best bud's house when I discovered this group of settings:

Click -> Menu -> Settings -> Applications Settings -> Browser -> Browser Profiles.

Here, apparently AT&T  allows you to choose the default routing for data for the built in webbrowser. Just for no reason at all, I decided to select the AT&T MMS profile. Interestingly enough, over the next 3 days, I browsed the internet and noticed no changes in my recorded DATA overage charges (I do not have a data plan).

Now, I really dont know if the browsing was really ignored, or maybe AT&T's system just hasn't detected it yet, but I have a theory. I have a messaging plan. The MMS profile is what it uses to transfer data (MMS stands for multimedia messaging system). I believe that rerouting data through the MMS system evades charges because it believes that this browsing is just me sending Multimedia Messages.

However, this is just a theory. Please test it and confirm or deny my discovery. I would appreciate any thoughts on this matter

Be careful though. It seems too simple to be true but it still seems to work. Who knows?

Of course not! MMS and WAP (Data/Internet) use the same server: wap.Cingular. I also tested this...didn't work.

Yeah. Thats weird. I got overage too at the end of the bill cycle, but strangely enough, MMS messages, which use the same connection are free. Hmm, perhaps they have  it screened so only certain webdomains are free through that connection profile.
Sry guys.
