Hello
i recently upgraded to the impression from the Lg Vu and it had its own theme manager along with themes. i was wondering how much it would take to install a theme manager like the one on the vu on the impression. all it did was launch SWF files in place of the wallpaper. it allowed themes to be made, such as the HTC Hero theme and other things like that.

Let me tell you something... the more and more I upgrade to new, so-called "cooler" technology phones... the more I miss my Lg-Vu. Although it comes bare-boned... you can hack the CRAP out of it and many have done so and shared their hacks. I look at my Samsung Impression and wonder.... which is better. Besides the drop-down keyboard and the AMOLED screeen... it almost seems worse. But will i continue to use the Impression? Heck yah! I got it for free. But is it BETTER than the Lg-Vu... HECK no.

The only thing that was better on the LG VU was themes. Yes it was highly customizeable for looks.

I had a Vu before i got my impression.  i hated that phone and couldn't wait to get rid of it.  It was cool that you were able to load different themes and such but the phone itself is a piece of crap.  Virtual qwerty keyboard is terrible.  I spent most of the time backspacing to correct the errant letters I would type.  It also took forever to load the pictures so you could look at them.  Oh yeah, the touch screen was terrible too.  Try scrolling through your pictures with that thing.  I almost got a Xenon but its similarites to the Vu scared me away.  I love my Impression and think it kicks the Vu's jerk!

I think the xenon is on the road to being discontinued  if it hasnt already. Yeah they give you themes but the phones are pure crap. Check out the xenon forum. It is dead. The ones there all say the phone is crap. This forum and xenon forum started about the same time.

The Vu forum was very active a year ago.  Everybody seemed to love the phone.  Don't know why.

It was the breakthrough touchscreen full feature phone. What else was there for the money besides the iphone and the VU at that time?

Good point.  The main reason I got it was the mobile tv.  Salesperson told me it broadcasted live television.  I quickly found out that wasn't true.

Funny story about the VU and I. I was strictly a Samsung guy ever since I had my A707 Sync. I don't know what it was about that phone, but I loved it. I...Broke it and needed a new phone, and my best friend had a VU, and I wanted one soooo bad, so we went to the ATT store and when I asked the clerk about it, she went to the back to grab me one, and came back to show me the Samsung Eternity. "I'm so sorry. We're all out of the VU right now, but I do have this, it's just as good, if not better, and it's $50 cheaper." Bam. Love. Done. And now I have my Impression a little down the road. :]

i had a VU i loved it and yes the VU forums were very active and still are about 100x more active than this one. course being an old moderator from the forum could be the only reason why i liked the forums so much but it was a nice community.

Loved the Vu forums as well, and my Vu. I used the Android theme and loved it Smiley

That said, I like the impression better overall. The keyboard is better, and the picture quality is better. I like the weight and size of it and most of all the colorful screen.

If I could get the PC Studio crap to work, it would be golden.

Ahhh Welcome fellow ex-LG Vu forum member..
I too just went from my modded VU to an Impression, I thought I'd miss the themes i used on the VU(I especially liked the HTC Hero, iPhone & Storm) but honestly this Impression's display is sooo much nicer plus I jumped into the data plan with the new Impression so I really don't miss the old VU as much as I thought I would.  I backed up everyhting on the VU and put it back to Factory specs for my daughter to use.
So far I have added the Weather widget to my Impression(nice not having to update the weather txt files lol), installed Gmail so now I can access my mail through my phone and added the Google widget to the homescreen.. I can see more mods in my Impressions future Smiley
Who knows, maybe Denobnhawk, NanoLt, Jeffery, Turbo and some of the other super hackers will come over to the Impression and dig into it's system files... You have to admit the Impression's display, internet access and sound blows the VU's out of the water.. The Slide out keyboard is a nice plus too,,
Welcome again and let's hope the ride here with the Impression is as good as the one we had with the VU!!

When we upgraded our family's phones in December, my sister got the Vu, and I got the Impression. I hate her phone and she hates my phone. It's funny Smiley I can barely manuver through her phone because (in my opinion) the touch screen is soooo horrible. Maybe it's because my first touch screen was the Impression? She has the G-phone theme or something. It just is so akward to me.
