This method is not recommended anymore. Please take a look at this thread to give you a better and more complete method. Thanks.

http://www.samsung-impression.org/lg-rumor-tips-and-tricks/amazegps-with-no-settings-bin-hack-and-no-deleting-phonedb_data-00/

Just wanted to bring the news to the Impression site. GIO from the Samsung Eternity forum has stumbled across a way to use the internal GPS with programs like Amazegps. Please go to the site and thank him. This is trully a big find and we need to show our appreciation. Go read the story.

http://www.samsung-eternity.com/index.php/topic,4269.0.html

Basically using TKFileExplorer go to your Amaze folder and replace the settings.bin file with the one below. You now must be using the eternity version of Amazegps which is already fullscreen touch. Do not use the Pixon version because that will look for the bluetooth gps. Instructions on using TKFileExplorer can be found on this forum here http://www.samsung-impression.org/index.php?topic=371.0

Instructions: Delete any previous versions of Amaze and reboot the phone. Download the eternity version on your phone from http://dl.locationet.com/amaze . Do not run the file yet. Replace the  settings.bin in the amaze folder with this version using TKFileExplorer. Disconnect and reboot phone as a precaution. Start amaze and watch it connect to your internal gps. Its as simple as that.

Again please go thank him.

And in case anyone is interested also below is a full screen touch version of mgmaps that you can use the settings.bin trick on. In my opinion it is about the same type of program as google maps but has full screen touch and gps capabilities. Follow the same instructions as above except use Rumkin http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/ to upload the file to your phone.

Go to wap.amazegps.com from your phone, and select "Samsung A867 (Eternity)" from the list.  Then just follow the instruction given on how to get the settings.bin onto your phone.

!Confirmed As Working!

I think I just said that.

Works fine with amaze. Tried to install nav4all but there seems to be something wrong with their program. I keep getting a dada failed error when downloading a map, and I havent even applied the "settings.bin". No sense in messing with it.

This trick currently works for mgmaps too. To avoid getting an error with amaze and mgmaps I recommend this installation procedure. Uninstall the app and reboot your phone. Now reinstall the app. Use TKFileExplorer to replace settings.bin in your application. Wouldnt hurt to reboot phone again but optional. Then start application.

If using amaze you use the programs link to exit amaze the program might hang. This was a problem with the eternity's version of amaze and others. Just use your end call button on your phone and all will be fine.

Well amaze is very good at giving real time turn by turn voice directions. Mgmaps has more features and more map styles but I dont think it gives voice turn by turn but it is much better than google maps in my opinion.

I drove around in the countryside with mgmaps on mobile tracking and using the yahoo sat map. It was pretty cool. Looked just like a video game. It had a hard time keeping up with drawing the maps on the smallest scale at 45mph. It does have navigation. Plots it out on the map with a different color.  The only thing it is missing is the turn by turn voice and if you get off track you are on your own getting back on. But other than that this program is sweet. It has lots of features.

I would still prefer Amaze for its turn by turn voice directions and auto recalculations when you get off course.

I was thinking the same thing Damien. Thats why I asked.  Roll Eyes
