PC Studio (Version IB2) doesn't work with the Impression either.  You can update or add to your contacts with it but can't do a backup.

I am now able to save my contacts with the help of joedirt's advice on using the Eternity's software, and I am using IB5.  I don't know how I managed to get the connection to work, but I know I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers a couple of times, both the modem and composite drivers for USB.

To save your contacts to file, open the Phonebook in Samsung_NPS_IB5 and uncheck the "Sync between Outlook and Phonebook" box if it is checked. The proceed to click the PC/Mobile Sync button on the bottom of the Phonebook applet.

Below is picture view with Samsung_NPS_IB5 as stated in above quote.

\Note: I decided to make it confusing, I guess....

firebert, you beat me to it.  I was just coming to post about the New PC Studio IB5

This one has everything included, its not just iTunes wanabe like the one that come with the impression.

I have been able to backup my contacts as well as sync my calender.

I have experiment more to see how it fairs with outlook.  It fairs very well, I am also using Google Calendar Sync, to sync with the online google calender.

I only have to sync once, as Google Calender Sync checks for new addition in outlook, and syncs them to the online calender automatically.

I added appts in outlook to test this out, and they all synced with the impression flawlessly.  I also add apps to the phone, and again they all synced.

I would say this new pc studios IB5 does what its suppose to do, and now we can backup and update/sync our info without much trouble.

Hey VKitty,

I'm not usually a Google person, so I need a little clarification.  So you're able to sync your Impression calendar wirelessly with your Google Calendar?  Am I understanding right that Google Calendar does an automatic ongoing sync with your Outlook, which in turn automatically syncs with your Impression?  i.e. - you add an appointment in Oulook and it syncs to your phone automatically via Google Calendar & vice-versa?

Well not wirelessly perse, you still need to connect your phone to Samsung PC Studios IB5.  Then you do the sync with IB5's calender sync.

I have not gotten google to wirelessly sync with the impression yet.  Have just been trying to get PC Studios to work.  With Google Calender Sync, its a program you can download, it does sync with Outlook automatically.

Will get to wirelessly soon.

Ok, so I just got my new Impression this morning.  I installed the "New" PC Studio and I'm looking for the option to transfer contacts from Outlook to the Impression, but I'm not finding it.

What gives here?  Even my old Samsung A737 with the old PC Studio 3 gave me this option.  I have over 1000 contacts!  How do I get them into this fabulous new phone??

Hello  I was wondering the same thing.  when I called the samsung help line, they said it can't be done.  I had 65 contacts and began to build them again.  Only problem, is adding all the emails.  I hope you'll get responses and that there is a way.

So I got the phone to connect and and started syncing my outlook calendar with the phone and ran into two big problems.

1) Events that were entered as re-occurring into Google Calendar, then synced with outlook then synced with the phone wouldn't transfer from outlook to the phone.  In fact it stopped the whole sync process until I tracked down which entry caused the problem and deleted it.  Then I start back up and it fails at the next re-occurring event.

2) 300 Events maximum!!  After 300 events the phone runs out of memory.  I use up 300 events in a month (okay maybe two).  How is that supposed to work.

Anyone get around either of these problems?
