Anyone know of anything that does this? These programs use the output of the accelerometer to calculate things like 0-60, quarter mile times, you can input weight and drive-train loss and it can estimate wheel horsepower/crank hp. The Iphone apps are called dynolicious and the other one is g-tac.  Just wondering if anyone knows of any jre apps for this phone before I spring for one of those apps for the g.f.'s ipod touch.  I think those also use the gps for logging lap times which wouldn't be a bad thing.

We cannot access the accelerometer on this phone with j2me apps.

I also wondered why I don't see any accel games either.  That is a huge pain, why include a feature and make it a bug with the way ten pictures slide by before I go to profile/landscape.  No accel games, no access to accel data, why even include the sensor.  Makes me want to return crap when I can't use it.

its more of the long of the line of testing it out on the phone for feedback and using that technology for future phones and make it better

I don't know because I don't make it but it seems like apple and nintendo and basically every new phone barring a limited few has already done the testing.

There is a big difference between this phone and the iphone or something made by nintendo. FYI the solstice and the mythic has access to their accelerometers. But the thing is there are none or very few apps out there that use the accelerometer. None for these phones that I am aware of. Their sensor input is backwards.

If you want something like that then buy an iphone, a nintendo phone , or some other smartphone that has this ability. It is something that is not common for full feature phones.

I wouldn't buy something for an accelerometer and we all know nintendo doesn't make phones, thanks.  Its just if it is built in and it can read an accelerometer, why lock it? (I have the assumption that it is so it can still be called a mid range and doesn't seem to do all the fancy crap other "smartphones" can do?)  If it is reversed, reverse the output, again like I said I don't engineer it but if you think that the problem is "reversal", there would be the solution of programming it to see the inverse.  If it can see things like tilt on either axis such as tilt for photo or the data from when you shake dice, I can be pretty sure it can sense acceleration and someone knows how to access the accurate output that the accelerometer has.  Thanks for the sarcasm.  calm down and try this http://content.honeywell.com/sensing/sensotec/accelerometer_faq.asp?category=All and remember, your on a telephone forum

And I have been on the telephone forum for awhile. You havent. I happen to know our accelerometer cannot be accessed by java apps. All the java programming in the world will not allow it to happen. We have programmers on the forum that have tried. I know about the sensors and the api. Doesnt matter.

As I said earlier the mythic and the solstice has the api installed to access the accelerometer with j2me apps. Many european family phones also can access the accelerometer. But the solstice and mythic has their sensors backwards so they cant  even use the apps and games that are out there. I dont know what more to tell you?  Its not going to happen with the impression.

you don't need to add any more but let me add that we are arguing kinda different things I think.  You say that we are not aloud to use the accelerometer in java apps.  I believe you on that but I also believe that if the accelerometer in the phone exists, someone has a way to view the accurate outputs of the sensor and it would be nice if we had that same access making this a more powerful tool for us.

We are talking about the same thing and thats what I am trying to tell you. In the service menu you can pull up the accelerometer and get a reading. But the accelerometer api is not implemented in this phone. There is no way to add it. It will only ever work with the embedded software like the browser and pics. Its like the accelerometer is on the other side of the ocean when it comes to j2me. There is no boat and no bridge. There is no way to get to it. Yes it would be nice if we could see the accelerometer for apps but its not going to happen.  There just is no way.

i see..
maybe I just wanted the further detail and I was inquiring and now I am satisfied.  To sum up your post and explain the detail that I needed, "I can in fact see what the accelerometer outputs and from these outputs it would be possible to calculate the things that I want to know, however, so far it is very difficult or impossible to record these outputs in a way that is useful to us."
