There are 2 browsers. Opera mini and bolt. Follow the instructions in the first post to install. You only need the jad files to install through wapHQ.

Agoattamer & others - I put Opera mini 5 on my new Impression yesterday and am learning its new features, and have a few questions.
Does Opera mini have a zoom other than setting small, med, lg. fonts, or the one zoom jump from a full web page to just the article. (MediaNet's step zoom is one of its better features.)
I used the goatbreaking install, but still have the blue screen popping up sometimes when filling in blank fields like id or pw, can it be bypassed.
Thanks for your modified jad and jar files to maximize easy usage of these apps, but why is it necessary to upload/download the file(s) to a web site like waphq.  Couldn't your file be moved from our desk computer via TKFE to the phone?
I sync'ed (or linked) my phone's Opera mini to Opera on my home computer, but haven't figured out how to delete some of the default speeddials so I can replace them with mine.
Again, thanks for all you do for us new Impression owners.

If you read the first post it is stated that they can be installed with TKFE. WapHQ is used for those that do not use TKFE and want a signed fullscreen version that rotates.

No zoom on opera mini.

Yes you will still have the blue screen. Most 3rd party apps will have that. Apps are not specially written for our phone. If you dont want the blue screen then use their keyboard.

Hold your finger on the speed dials till a menu comes up and select clear.

Thanks for (delete) speeddial tip, works like a charm.
I have a tip for MediaNet users that I haven't seen yet on the forum, or even in the a877 manual: press either side of the volume bar to zoom in or out on a website - very handy.

One last question: I've been using Google Maps fully on my Impression for months (thanks to the Goat), and
only now do I desire to activate the ROTATE command.

Using TKFE, can I just copy the altered .jad file into the existing Google Maps folder,
overwriting the existing one, then do the Internals Key/code/update Java/Apps Dbs?

Or do I need to start completely over, erasing Google Maps, then copying the .jad and .jar back over,
then do the Internals Jig?

Thanks,

Keep Smiling

What you do is edit the jad with the rotate code. Copy it to the google maps folder overwriting the previous jad. Then just delete the appdb folder. It will reinstall using the new jad. Goatbreaking.  Roll Eyes

Anytime an app is already installed, updating the java database in the internals does absolutely nothing. This is for installing new apps only.

New version of Bolt 1.7 and beta 2.02 has been added to the first post. Both are fully signed, fullscreen, and rotate when slider is pulled out.

Has anybody else had this problem with Opera mini 5 (no longer the beta although it had this problem under beta too)?   When I do any typing with the keyboard (rather than the screen keypad), any characters entered in Fn or Shift mode just seem to keep repEEEEEEEEEting until I stop them by hitting the backspace key and backspacing over the extra characters?  I've been living with the issue so long that I just kind of automatically get ready to  backspace when I type anything but I like Opera enough that it's not enough to make me switch back to Bolt.

By the way, I don't seem to have the problem of the blue screen during edits.  I have found some functionality in the onscreen keyboard and have set it to "always" in the settings menu: since I do a lot of logins and passwords with mixed numbers and letters.  I find it easier to do the numbers on the onscreen keypad and do everything else on the phone keyboard for speed. Saves having to keep hitting the fn a bunch of times for things like "1pass2word3."

I'm having a problem saving mp4 video files with Opera 5. I have tried several different sites none work. Opera asks what folder to save it to and then just sits there. I am able to save from the same sites with Bolt and Media.net browsers. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas?

Might have something to do with everything viewed through opera goes through its proxy server so pages load faster. On windows mobile you can disable this. I am not sure if you can with the j2me version. In the address bar type in opera:config and see if there is a setting. I dont have a sim in mine at the moment so I can't check.

This may be a stupid question but I never had any opera mini browser on my impression and wanted to know if the version I just installed is full screen? I'm assuming it's full screen since I used the JAD at the bottom of page 1 goat provided but wanted to be sure as my copy does have the bar at the bottom with the arrow keys and page tabs. Is this the bar people were complaining about? Thanks guys.

"Also I added the rotate in the jad also. When you open the slider it puts it in landscape and you can type  in the text boxes without double tapping and going through the big blue screen. Works real nice in landscape with the keyboard. You have arrows to pan around too."

This is from the 1st page. I hav e the dpad and also I have to tap the text boxes to input letters and go through the big blue screen. Did I do something wrong with the install goat? I uploaded to wap and then went to the website on medianet and installed it that way. Thanks for the help.
