For those of you that have downloaded google maps from google mobile and were disappointed as to not receive the touch version I have the solution for you.  Matter of fact I have one better for you.  How would you like your google maps to work with the gps? Follow my directions.

1) Delete any previous versions of google maps

2) Download the jar and the jad below to your computer

3) Upload the jar to Imserba   http://www.imserba.com/wapupload/ and follow directions to install on phone
may work with rumkin but not tested

4) Do not run google maps yet

5) Connect you phone to your computer using TKFE

6)  Navigate to the google maps folder and delete the jad and the appdb folder

7)  In the top pane of TKFE navigate to where you have the jad that you downloaded

8 ) Download the jad to your phone replacing the one you deleted

9) Rename the jad exactly like the jar. ex: AB123456.JAD

10) Disconnect and go outside and start google maps allowing the gps to connect

11) Enjoy

Also this application can be installed with the TKFE and master key install method.

Updated on 7/4/2010 to version 3.0.2.  This version has the google latitude that everyone has been wanting.

Does Not use our phone's internal GPS but ...

Its a great program for searching for addresses or places of interest in a certain location.  I found that its alot of the times better than yellowpages.

As well as Traffic info that is available, so far it does a better job then Mgmaps

If I told you I was on my knees begging for an apology would you believe me.  Grin

I was looking for full screen touch games. I was bored so I started looking at firmware for similiar phones. In this case I ended up looking at a s8300 samsung ultratouch and there it was. This phone gets it out of the factory like this.

I think it is a proprietary thing.  Of all the samsung phones I looked at all over the different continents they either had navigator, route 66, or google maps. But not 2. My bet is that google cant release a version for our phone because our gps is tied to Navigator. So they would be infringing on navigators market.

I uploaded it to imserba and I was shocked that i saw that it was connecting to the gps.So there you have the story. But you wont find it on a US branded phone.

It was brought to my attention that every time you started google maps the terms and conditions would come up. So I did some looking into it and found another version that didnt do that.

If you are happy with the way it is so be it. If you cant deal with the terms and conditions coming up each time then delete the version you have and go back to the first post and get the new version. Install method is the same.

Thats one of those questions you shouldnt be asking.  Roll Eyes You know it uses alot of data. So if you dont have a data plan I would not be using it. But you can place the files in a "Google Maps" folder and delete the database file if you want to install it.

Thanks, this is great! I also like how it seems to use the cell tower to guess your location before it gets a GPS lock or it just uses the incomplete GPS data at first... plus it seems to get a full GPS lock quicker than amaze or mgm. Nice.

Does it sometimes not get the GPS lock for anyone else?  It may just be my area, but I wanted to see if happened to anyone else, and where.

When it does lock it locks fast..just sometimes it does not lock at all.  lol
