Maybe I missed this in the other 19 pages, but do you have to have a data plan in order for the gps to work with google maps?

Short answer YES & no(be careful with no)


You have to have internet enabled in order for Google Maps to work, you will be charge ALOT of money this way as you dont have a data plan so you will be charge for EVERY minute you use on the net, and Google Maps uses ALOT of data.

I would get a data plan if you are planing on using Google Maps.  Check with AT&T about the data plans for non smart phones has they have recently changed there plans.

What is the latest version of Google Maps that works with the Impression?

Version 2.3.2 with touch and GPS is pretty old now.  It appears that Google has added a lot of new features since this version.  Is it possible to get the latest version with touch and GPS from someone in the UK as was done with 2.3.2?

I ONLY have unlimited data plan but I don't have ANY GPS plans for my impression. Will this app still work? Will I get GPS charges?

No such thing as gps charges. There are charges to use the navigator application on the phone. If you install as instructed and have a data plan then there will be no charges.

I just wanted to add that it looks like 2.3.2 is still the latest version available for the Samsung Impression/Eternity. Also just wanted to my thanks for the mods! I'm doing this for my brother and he's real excited to finally get GoogleMaps and some games onto to his phone!

Well everyone. It looks like google maps with gps now has an update. I have updated the upload in the first post to version 3.0.2. This version now includes google latitude along with the gps. Have fun people. Lets see if we can get 3000 downloads from this version.

Let me know if there are any issues or if anything else is new.  Grin Grin

Any reason why i would be getting "your current location is temporarily unavailable" also is street view not available any more.
Update:::after 15 minutes still no gps or tri, signal..

You are not getting gps signal for some reason. Only getting triangulation for the cell towers.  And it can only mean you are not outside in open skies or it was not installed correctly.  If you go outside you should get an exact location if installed correctly. I have gps signal on my phone in under a minute when I go outside.

Which method did you use? Using uploader site and TKFE to copy jad over and delete appdb folder after install or Just using full TKFE method?
