Yes this version is newer than that version. Plus this version uses the gps. Thanks for bringing that up as I will update that thread.

Thanks for the quick response.
I've compared the two JAD files and a few lines stand out:
DefaultLatLon: 28537740,-81377390 DefaultZoom: 9 DistributionChannel: gorganic (ms-samsung in the New jad) DownloadLocale: en HelpTags: TRAFFIC
These lines (among others) are missing from the new jad. Most seem inconsequential, but the TRAFFIC helptag: Have you noticed any difference in the live traffic function?
Thanks

No I have noticed any difference between the 2 applications, except this one uses the gps. Traffic works on this one as it did the last version. So what are you asking for?

Just checking on the possibilities (hidden Latitude). Thanks.
Oh-my other question: Does it matter wether I use Davidpye or Imserba?
Thanks again.

I tested the install using Imserba. I can not guarantee DavidPye. If you install with DavidPye and it doesnt work then you are losing nothing but your time. I recommend Imserba for this install but DavidPye should also work as long as you follow the same directions. Before I found this googlemaps I searched the internet for months. I could find no trace of a gps being used in java phones. But then I found this. Go figure. You think it would have showed up before with a simple google search. But you can go to the google website and it will tell you google latitude only available for some smartphones. It never states that the gps isnt available for java phones. I am very content as others to just be able to use the gps with google maps. The beta location finder hardly ever worked for me as I live in the boonies.

Also, does this version also accept the ROTATE command (or others)?
If so, you might include those instructions more clearly in the post header. And including another pointer to the original GB threead and the TKF usage post. Might make it better for the newbies...
Thanks

I havent tried the rotate with this version. That is another totally different mod. My directions on how to install are clear and concise. For those that dont know how to use TKFE they will need to learn how before doing any mod that it requires. I take the time to write up every tutorial as it needs to be. I am sorry if I left out links to the rest of the forum.

Not trying to indict your methods. No, I'm quite happy to have all the help you've provided. Please don't take offense.
Davidpye worked, but like another user, I had to rename the jad BEFORE I transferred it. In trying to do so afterward, I was denied the ability to rename. Swapping those two instructions worked. I'm also enjoying Opera, Gmail & amAze, thanks to your hard work.
Were you aware of forks in files? Supporting alternate data streams?
Thanks

Oh-And one difference I've discovered so far in the new version: Haptic feedback is not present. Small price to pay for the GPS.

I had another version of google maps that used the gps. But everytime you started it you would have to accept the terms and conditions file. It was rather annoying. I wonder if the haptic feedback is the same as use animation. This sounds interesting and maybe something to play with. You obviously are on to something. I have 3 versions sitting in front of me. 3 different jads and 3 different jars. Not much we can do with the jars. But if you want to play with the jads. Here is the other one for the gps that shows the terms and conditions each and every time. Maybe you can compare the 3 and see if you can get any more functions, let me know. I'll also include the eternity jad just in case.

In perusing the 3 different files, the TnC one seems bare bones, lacking even the GPS enable command. How it works at all is unknown to me. The Animate flag is also a mystery. It doesn't seem to matter, so maybe it's a Symbian thing. Thanks.

Yes, I enabled the animate on mine and really didnt notice anything. And as far as the gps enable, it might be more of a description and actually doesnt do anything. Heck the eternity's version has it and it doesnt even have the coding for a gps in the jar.

I'm looking for a version of google apps that doesnt require goatbreaking but still has these features:
-Fullscreen -landscape -Functions nicely with keyboard -doesn't have the annoying message about data usage
does this app exist?
