Yeah Goat, I learned that the hard way...Since PC Studio doesn't play nice with Windows 2k, I've had to be creative in the ways I can move data onto my phone.  When I have access to my girlfriends laptop I can use PC Studio just fine, other times I have to use TKFE and afterwards uptade the media database.

It hasn't worked for me yet, but I think it is because I don't have a memory card yet.

Try media player mode. Works just like mass storage but can see the phones media folders like pics and music.

Originally I saved the text file to Record/, the recorded audio folder.  I then created a sub-folder in Pictures as a place to save my text files.  Using the phones interface I moved file.txt from /Records to Pictures/Text Files/.  At this point Notable was no longer able to open file.txt.

I just recreated this process and was able to see and open file.txt without any problems.

Noteable can see the subfolder I have created.  It can see test.txt (which I placed in Pictures/Text Files/) and when I renamed test.txt it still recognizes that file.

So that worked?

I also copied text.txt to the Record/ folder, opened Noteable, opened the test.txt and tried to Save As... to Record/.  While no files were shown as being in that folder, it gave an error saying the file name already exits.

That's not an error. That is how all software works. When you choose 'Save As...' that means you are saving something new or perhaps a copy of a currently opened file. Any good software will warn you that you are about to overwrite an existing file and ask if you want to continue. If you are simply editing an open file you should choose 'Save' to save the changes you made.

I just confirmed that I can transfer files onto my phone via TKFE which can be opened by Noteable (P:\Media\Pictures\Text Files), and I have used the Update Media Database under the Internals menu.

Now, Noteable can also see files which do not have the .txt extension.  I tried copying one of my ringtones to another folder and Noteable could not see that file either.  It seems the problem lies with how the phones file system handles the movement of data.  I can see copies were actually created in their respective folders via TKFE, but for some reason they don't show in Noteable.

I don't have an answer for you on that one. I can move files around with the phone's manager and still open them with Noteable. I can open any file just like Notepad can on your PC. It just shows gibberish if it is a binary file but it still opens it.

You have given me an idea on how to make the whole opening and saving files interface better though. Add that to my list too. Roll Eyes

Just found this thread and installed via MicroCard.  Great app, immediately deleted Notepad!  Anyway to set this program as the default text reader for this phone? (so when you go into a folder and click a file it opens with this instead of that other program-access powered- whatever thing.  That program opens things so small, you have to zoom in just to see any words!!  That would make it easier than opening this app then going through its menu to open the files you want...thanks
