So I have some apps I downloaded.  The steps I take when entering some text are this:

1. tap on the text input field
2. A blue textarea input field opens up, and then I tap on that
3. Then I get my black keyboard screen and enter text
4. Click OK on the keyboard screen
5. now back to the blue screen, I click OK (or whatever the apps button is)

Why is the process not like this? ...  as it is in the browser:

1. tap on the text input field, and it is selected, screen otherwise stays the same
2. enter input
3. hit enter to end editing.

Probably because these apps are universal for many phones. Maybe this was the only way to do it so it works on many phones. IDK. But it seems to be a standard with non branded apps.

Some day, when my kids are grown... in about 10 years... I'll get out the Samsung SDK and hack midpSSH for the Impression keyboard Wink

Ago is right, Because when people with no touch click on the text box, they just type with there multitap keybaord in the blue box, so it is much simpler for them than  for us.
